The ColdHeat Cordless Glue Gun - A Review

As far as crafting goes, I am the Queen of gadgets. If it looks interesting, looks like it will make my crafting activities faster and easier, and is a good value for the price, I'll buy it!

Which is why, when I had the chance to try out the new Freestyle ColdHeat glue gun, I jumped at it. It is billed as a 'truly' cordless glue gun and it is exactly that. The battery back fits neatly on to the handgrip of the gun and only needs to be plugged in for a few hours prior to first use. After that, it stays charged for a super long time. And best of all, there is no annoying cord to get in the way. I can't tell you how many times the cord has gotten in my way when I've used my old glue gun. And I can take the ColdHeat glue gun anywhere.

I recently purchased a 1922 Craftsman style house and it came with lovely siding, some of which had a few small holes. So I grabbed an extra piece of siding, a pair of snippers, and my ColdHeat glue gun and off I went. I cut the patches to slightly larger than each hole and then hot glued them in place. My house is two and half stories tall and with the help of a ladder and my attached garage roof, I managed to reach every single hole in my siding.

There is no way I could've done all of this crawling around and climbing up and down ladders and fixing siding holes while trailing an electrical cord. I have nothing but great things to say about the cordless part of the ColdHeat glue gun!

As far as ergonomic design goes, this thing fits my hand really well. The grip is comfortable and rubberized so that it is 'no slip'. It's got a little project light for spotting in dark areas but I didn't need to make use of that. I can see where it would come in real handy if you were fixing things in dark places like under sinks. The trigger is interesting; it's larger than any of the other glue gun triggers I've seen. It allows for two fingers on the trigger and two fingers wrapped around the grip. I found that this gave me better control of both the gun and the amount of glue I wanted.

Lastly, the built-in stand rocks! It is very sturdy and when you don't want it, it folds up neatly out of your way. It does not do this any time you try to use it. It has a really nice locking mechanism built in to prevent that from happening.

Overall, I'd give the ColdHeat glue gun four and a half stars out of five. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I'm not overly fond of the colors. But really, who cares as long as it works as well as it does!

Happy Crafting!
