Dress your child in the coolest costume around when you glue gun together this Funky Chicken suit. This awesome costume is a glue gun classic. All those little ghosts and witches will be eating their hearts out!
What you'll need:
- 2 heavy or 4 medium white marabou boas
- 7" of red marabou boa
- 2 white long-sleeve leotards
- polyester fiberfill stuffing
- yellow tights
- yellow latex gloves
- canvas shoes
- white baseball cap
- two 8"X 12" orange felt pieces
- two 35 mm wiggle eyes
- black marker
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- safety pins
- scissors
- sewing supplies of choice.
To begin, layer the leotards one inside another. Align the arm and leg openings. Sew legs together with a loose zigzag stitch.
Next, stuff polyester fiberfill between the two leotards. Match neck opening and sew edges together by hand. To make the head, cut two orange felt beaks to fit the bill of the cap and extend the point for a beak. Use your glue gun to attach the beak pieces on top of each other like a sandwich.
Next use your glue gun to attach some adorable chicken eyes and a red boa "comb" in a stylish ruffle on the top of the head.
For funky chicken feet, just stuff the fingers of an old pair of gloves with some fiberfill. Place gloves palms down and insert right shoe in right glove and left shoe in left glove. Trim the gloves as needed, tuck them into the tops of the shoes and use your glue gun to seal the gloves to the inside rim. Cut slits in gloves if shoes need to be tied.
Have your child step into the stuffed leotard, then drape boas lavishly around the shoulders, under the arms and around the body, and carefully pin everything into place.
Viola, a Funky Chicken is born!
