"[I am] looking for some new crafts to do with using CDs. We have made fish, birds, and frogs and would like to try something new."
We here at GGCrafts present to you our very own idea using old CDs: Summertime Bird Flashers! Hanging these in your fruit trees will not only cheer up your yard but will also keep the birds away from your ripe fruit.
Difficulty Level: Medium (perfect for kids 10 and up with adult supervision, especially around that hot glue gun)
What you will need:
- two sheets of craft foam in contrasting colors
- a pen or permanent marker
- scissors or craft knife
- a couple of used CDs
- hot glue gun and hot glue (low- or high-temp)

1. Place your CD on the foam and draw around it. Use this circle to make your sun ray or leaf pattern. Cut out of sheet and then cut out the center circle, leaving at least 1/8" of an edge from the circle.
2. Glue the sun rays or leave circle to the flashy side of the CD by running a line of glue around the edge of the outer foam circle, just inside the line you drew around the CD.
3. Flip the CD over and glue the inner circle onto the label side of the CD. This will cover up any leftover label markings.
4. Cut a 3" long, 1/4" wide strip of foam and glue it to the completed bird flasher. This will be used to hang the flasher in your tree.
5. Add any details with your pen or permanent marker and you're done!
