In keeping with our Kid's Crafts theme this summer, we are going to show you
today how to dress up your kid's party invitations with hot glue 'seals' that
will double was keepsakes after the party!
Difficulty Level: Great for kids 8 years old and up with adult supervision around that glue gun!
Materials:
A stamp of any type Ink
A releasing agent such as olive oil or baby oil
A glass surface (we used the bottom of a bowl)
Colored glue sticks
Glue gun
Envelopes and Invitations
Instructions:
- Wipe a small amount of your releasing agent on the glass surface.
- Either ink up your stamp or, if you want a clear design, wipe some releasing agent on your stamp surface.
- Form a puddle of hot glue with your glue gun that is large enough to place your stamp into.
- Gently push the stamp into the glue; be careful not to push too far!
- All the glue to harden completely (about 3 minutes)!
- Gently rock the stamp back and forth until it comes out of the glue.
- Gently peel the glue 'seal' off of the glass surface.
- Clean the back of your seal and use a paper friendly glue to add it to your envelopes!

We advise putting your 'sealed' invitations in another envelope so that if the seal does come free, it won't get lost. These seals are very flexible and, once the party is over, you can use a needle to string it onto a necklace or add it to a scrapbook chronicling your child's party.
This idea isn't only for child's invitations... this is also a great idea to add class to wedding invitations without worrying about the seal crumbling, as real sealing wax is likely to do if you send your invitations through the mail.
