Materials:
Glue gun/ clear glue sticks
Sheet of plain paper for pattern
Pencil
Craft foam, any colors, 8.5" x 11" sheets (need 3 different colors)
1- googly eye
Embellishments: pearls, rhinestones, lace, ribbon, stickers
Sharpie
X-acto knife and scissors
The pattern used to make the invites was borrowed from a purse making book: Crafty Bags for Stylish Girls.
1.) Heat up glue gun and put in glue.
2.) Either by using the same pattern from Crafty Bags, free form drawing your own or using something completely different...cut your pattern out for the body and the ear.
3.) Place your paper pattern on the craft foam you want for the main body of the elephant and trace. Using the scissors and x-acto knife, cut out.
4.) Next trace and cut out the ear.
5.) Repeat for the saddle in two different colors of craft foam.
6.) Apply glue to the ear and place on the elephant's body, about one inch from the trunk edge.
7.) Apply glue to the back of your googly eye and place in the one inch gap between the ear and the trunk.
8.) Apply glue to the largest piece of the saddle and place in the middle of the elephant's back, lining up the outside edges so that you can trim those later.
9.) Repeat for the second, smaller piece of saddle.
10.) Trim the edges of your elephant if needed.
11.) Now embellish your elephant! Maybe add ribbon or lace alongside the saddle, add some rhinestones or give him/her and earring!
12.) Take the Sharpie and on the reverse side, write out the party invitation, directions, birthday greetings, whatever your need might be!
