This week I finally followed through and re-created a craft I said I would try: The Sparkly Shamock Brooch. I just can't turn down glitter. Thanks to A Fanciful Twist! You'll need to visit the site if you want to print out the shamrock pattern.
Materials:
cardstock
scissors/ X-Acto Knife
fine glitter
glue (brushable, thin)
paintbrush
safety pin
hot glue gun/glue sticks
jewel/button for center embellishment
1.) Cut out shamrock patterns, trace onto cardstock (all the same or different colors) and cut out the cardstock shamrocks.
2.) Apply a small dot of hot glue to the center of the biggest shamrock and layer on the second largest. Apply glue and repeat until you get the the smallest shamrock.
3.) Run safety pin through the back of the largest shamrock, towards the top.
4.) Fold up shamrock leaves slightly to create a 3D effect.
5.) Brush leaves with glue, one layer at a time and sprinkle on glitter. Shake off excess glitter and repeat with next layer.
6.) Add embellishments, or in the case of the example, hot glue a rhinestone or button in the center.
Once it's dry, you've got yourself a very pretty and glittery piece of St. Patrick's Day flare!
