Standing by the registers in JoAnn's is the dollar bargain bins, meant to get you at you most impulsive, weakest shopping state. They succeed on me sometimes and sometimes they don't. Well they got me this time with the Pilgrim Boy Ball Foam Craft Kit. From the front package it looks cute and seems to promise everything you'll need except the hot glue and maybe a little ribbon for the bow tie.
At least that's what the package said.
Upon opening the package I found the instructions (helpful as they were) telling me to make it look like the picture. Fair enough, any crafty person can see the picture and replicate with a hot glue gun. Of course that is assuming that all the pieces are there...
I am missing the promised two pom poms that would serve as the hair and decorative pumpkin and the hands. I was however gifted with an extra set of buckles for shoes and hat, along with three extra arm pieces.
I made do, following along, best I could.
I had some extras lying around that I used for embellishments to dress him up and make up for the missing pieces. A couple of pumpkin stickers stuck together make for a nice 3-D pumpkin effect, plus some gold foam leaf stickers scattered on the ground. I made his little bow tie out of a sparkly black pipe cleaner rather than the thin black ribbon I didn't have anyway.
But for $1, I still say I got a deal!
