Halloween is getting closer and this super easy and quick spider can be done in plenty of time for it to be adorning a mantle or centerpiece on the day of tricks and treats!
Materials:
Glue gun/ clear glue sticks
Clear glass ornament (55mm)
Black chenille pipecleaners
2 big google eyes, preferably with a little color
Black acrylic paint
Scrap of white cardstock (for teeth)
- Take the glass ornament and paint black with the acrylic paint and let dry.
- Fold 2 of the chenille stems in half and cut for the legs.
- Apply a blob of glue in the center of one of the chenille stems and press to the center of the ornament. Repeat with all 4 of the stems, in a row, to form the eight legs.
- Wait until the glue hardens and paint it black with the acrylic paint.
- Apply glue the backs of the eyes and press onto the top of the ornament around the opening.
- Cut 4 tiny teeth from the white cardstock. Apply a very small bit of glue around the top rim of the ornament opening and press in two of the teeth. Repeat again for the bottom teeth.
- Cut one of the puffs on the chenille stem off from the rest of the pipecleaner and cut that in half again. This will be the spider's eyebrows.
- Apply a bit of glue to the wide end of the "eyebrow" and press into place above the eye until the glue hardens. Repeat for the other eye.
- Bend the spider legs so that you spider can stand on his own.
That's it! From here you could nestle him into some faux spider webs around the house, glue a ribbon on the back to hang him from or create an entire web out of silver glitter glue for him to hangout in!
