This post brought to you by guest craftzilla! January is a slow month in the craft world. Coming out of December with enough holidays and gift giving opportunities to make any craftzilla's head spin, January is a time of glue gun doldrums. No major holidays. No changes in the bleak weather. Valentine's Day just a little too far away to start getting excited. Why does January even exist? And voila! Out of my January craft boredom, fiddling around with my hot glue gun, making hot glue dew drops and waiting for inspiration to strike, I discover something that some craftzillas… Read More

Creating Rudolph Candy Boxes Video Tutorial

Kerry's Paper Crafts posted a great video tutorial on making "Rudolph Spares" which are little metal gift tins filled with cherry sours, red hots or any other large red candy that could be Rudolph's "nose." The whole video is set to the music of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and the tutorial itself is slightly sped up. I have to say it's one of the best tutorials I've watched in a long time. Simple, fun and entertaining!… Read More

It's the Grim Reaper Pumpkin!

Better Homes and Garden's Special Halloween Tricks and Treats magazine is a must pick up for me every September and this year is no exception. Pick up 4 medium sized pumpkins (or Funkins), hollow out and cut holes (just big enough for the PVC pipe) in the top and bottom of 3 of the pumpkins. Cut a face out of the 4th pumpkin on the top around… Read More

Naming Your Craft Images for Search Engines

Let's face it, no actual person really looks into what the file name of your images are on your craft tutorial pages right? Nope, they don't. Which is why you've never cared that the finished picture of your adorable bunny craft is called IMG_01254.jpg right? Well, search engines care. They care a lot. Search engines can only read text, they can't read images. Ever notice how sometimes when you search for something there are listings for websites and sometimes 3-4 boxes of pictures about 1/4 of the way down the page that says "image results"? Or wonder how when you… Read More
