Our office had a pinata for Cinco de Mayo and our Chief Operating Officer stepped up to take his swings. It being casual Friday, he was wearing his beloved, thong leather sandals. (Manly sandals, I assure you). Well the thong separated from the shoe mid swing! (Ladies- we all know how it feels when the heel comes off your shoe mid-day and you're forced to clomp along or horror or horrors, buy new shoes at lunch.) So to save him from having to wander about the office without shoes for the rest of the day, I took my glue gun and a pair of scissors and got to work. Using the tip of one of the scissor blades, I dug out the hole where the thong originally attached to the shoe, making it deeper and then filled it with glue. Then took the end of the thong and pushed it into the hole using the tip of the scissors and held it down in until the glue hardened. Then I took some pink ribbon, tied a bow and glued that on top of the sandal. (That was mostly for my enjoyment.)
Not only did the glue hold for the rest of the day, it held for two weeks after that! (Until the COO's wife threw the shoes away.)
